Prayer Guide
As you join us in standing on the wall all across our nation, here are some prayer points to aid you!
Repentance
- “God, we thank you for your mercy. We acknowledge that you are a holy and just God, who created all men and women in your image. We repent of the ways we have committed, or through our apathy or silence, partnered with racism, unrighteous judgement, prejudice, and any form of hatred in our hearts. We repent of not seeing our fellow human as created in Your image. We repent of our indifference towards our brothers and sisters and their challenges, as well as for our segregated lives and the disunity of the Church. We do not always know how to change these things about ourselves. So, we fall again at the cross, repent, and ask for Your help and mercy. Give us hearts of flesh for our hearts of stone. We no longer point the finger at others and decry their sin. We acknowledge the plank in our own eye, the strongholds in our thought patterns, and the decay in our souls. Help us, Oh God! Deliver us from the evil within us and the evil rocking our society around us. Jesus, we plead your blood over our sin and the sin of our city & nation. Have mercy and restore us, O God.”
- Scripture: 2 Chronicles 7:14- If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
- Isaiah 6: 1, 5-8 - In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord, high and exalted, seated on a throne; and the train of his robe filled the temple... 5 “Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.” Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.” Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
The Church & Ministry of Reconciliation
- “God, we thank you that you have given your people the ministry of reconciliation. Jesus, we thank you that you came to reconcile all things to yourself. We ask that you would give the Church passion, vision, and anointing for this ministry of reconciliation in the earth. Give us the grace and courage to “walk across the room” as we seek to desegregate our lives. May we not just set the table of brotherhood with friends and family, but also with coworkers and neighbors who look and think differently than we do. And in that place of fellowship, may we wash our guests’ feet with our listening ears, humble hearts, and honest conversation. As we take these steps of faith, please surround us with Your favor like a shield. We ask that we would manifest the multi-cultural family of God in each of our communities & right here on MLK Blvd.”
- Scripture: 2 Corinthians 5:17-19 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.
The Heart of the Oppressed & The Heart of the Oppressor
because the Lord has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,[a]
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor
and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn,
and provide for those who grieve in Zion--
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
instead of ashes,
the oil of joy
instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
a planting of the Lord
for the display of his splendor.
They will rebuild the ancient ruins
and restore the places long devastated;
they will renew the ruined cities
that have been devastated for generations.
- “God, we know that you desire an abundant life in Christ for all people, both in the age to come as well as in the here and now. We know that abundant life is found only in Your son, Jesus. We ask that in Jesus’ name, you would minister to the heart of the oppressed and the oppressor. May we follow the example of Jesus as Your Spirit anoints us to “proclaim good news to the poor, bind up the brokenhearted, proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners. We ask for the grace to “walk humbly, do justly, and love mercy” in everything we speak, think, or do. You are a good and just God who hears the cry of the oppressed. And You, a merciful God who desires all men to come to repentance, send your Spirit to turn hearts of stone into hearts of flesh!”
- 2 Peter 3:9- The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.
- Isaiah 61:1 - 4

- Micah 6:8- He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
Salvation & Revival
- “God, we thank you that true life and salvation is found in the beautiful work of Jesus on the cross. We ask, in Jesus’ name, that in the midst of racial brokenness and social unrest, you would make the hearts of men open to the gospel. Pour out Your Holy Spirit once again, oh God! May this rude awakening truly awaken Your Church and proceed and lead to the greatest awakening our nation has ever known. We ask that men and women would encounter you as the Way, the Truth, and the Life. We ask that the harvest would be brought in and that we would see revival in this nation. King Jesus, receive the inheritance for Your suffering!”
- Scripture: Psalm 22:27-All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to the Lord, and all the families of the nations shall worship before you.
- Matthew 24:14-And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
Closing Prayer |
At the close of the silent prayer protest, we ask that you conclude with the following unison prayer:
“Jesus, we plead Your blood over our sins and over the sins of our nation. Tear down wickedness, raise up righteousness, and bring healing to America. Amen.” |
